We are happy to announce that our alliance with Wegow will enable users to purchase their concert tickets through our Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), technology. It’s an additional payment alternative for Wegow’s users.

Wegow is a Spanish platform for music lovers which is currently shaking up the live music industry. Ultimately, it’s a social marketplace for live music fans, artists, managers and brands who interact in a completely new way to gain exposure to live music.

This alliance has been built during an extremely favorable context for Direct Carrier Billing, DCB. The current forecasts point out to a sustained growth over the coming years. More precisely, DCB market is expected to grow by 25% this year in Spain, boosted by increasing mobile penetration rates and improvements in connectivity.

Moreover, the gigs ticketing sector in Spain is also growing at a fast pace. It’s expected that by 2018, the revenue derived from gigs in Spain will reach 188M€, according to PwC data. In this sense, Spain is ranked as the fourth biggest music festival host in Europe, only after UK, France and Germany.

Wegow has over 1.2M registered users, more than 1.5M monthly visits and presence in 19 different countries. With this platform, users receive alerts of the concerts of their favorite artists, they have access to an on-the-run customized shows agenda, socialize with other music lovers and have access to tickets.  From now on, they will be able to pay them via Direct Carrier Billing.

In this sense, our Chief Operations Officer, Roberto Monge states that “this agreement with Wegow comes at the right time and with the right partner. It will enable the purchase and the payment’s security in order to carry on upgrading the user experience. We are proud to be the first to deploy our carrier billing technology within a growing sector, like the concerts’ one, in which the mobile phone is the core device for the purchase”.

Moreover, Wegow’s CEO and co-founder, José María Ozamiz states that technology innovation is innate to Wegow and therefore, “Carrier billing seems like a logical step forward towards further improving our users’ experience. Thanks to Telecoming we will have the best technology to carry out this project”.

Direct Carrier Billing: aligned with the DSP2

This alliance has been reached in the context of the PSD2 transposition to the Spanish market. A new legislative context enables carriers and integrators to process payments and purchases via the carrier bill for many everyday services, including transport, parking and ticketing for transactions under 50€ and for a monthly 300€ top.

We are extremely proud of this alliance and trust our joint ability to deliver a simple, fast and above all secure payment option to gig and festival-goers!
